H²Organics™ IS A NEW WAY TO GROW FOOD

Our farms have taken sustainable food production to the next level. H²Organics™ produce commercial quantities of high-quality plants and fish to meet the demands of supermarket chains and consumers.

H²ORGANICS™
H²Organics™ meet supermarket demand for local sustainably produced food. We produce both fish and horticultural produce within a closed protective cropping environment.

FISH REARED BELOW

High quality fish, Tilapia (tilapiine cichlid ), are reared below to provide nutrients for the plants and additional revenue.

RECYCLED WATER & NUTRIENTS

Fish effluent passes through a patented process that converts it into plant nutrients and cleans the water.

INTEGRATED PEST MANAGEMENT

Our sophisticated integrated pest management regime is compatible with the criteria for organic certification in many countries.

MORE FOOD FROM LESS

We use the latest technology to increase yields and at the same time reduce labour, inputs and environmental compromise.

How H²Organics™ Works

7 Components

The H²Organics™ Economy

We called our brand H²Organics™ because by mimicking nature H²Organics™ produce more food from less. H²Organics™ are commercial scale food production systems that produce fish and plants in a protected cropping (greenhouse) environment – the fish waste providing nutrients for the plants. It is an ancient technique that has become popular among organic farmers.

The potential benefits of this approach to food production are:

High Yields

High Yields

by growing fish and vegetables in the same space.

High margins

High margins

by producing premium priced produce and fish.

Low inputs

Low inputs

no petrochemical based fertilizers or pesticides, less water, less labour, less energy.

Low impact

Low impact

no effluent, runoff or soil degradation.

Low risk

Low risk

contained controlled environment.

There is global interest in combining fish and plant production but there has been a limited success at commercial scale. Using patented technology (granted in South Africa – pending other markets) H²Organics™ have shown it can be done.

The Need for H²Organics™

By producing horticultural plants and fish in a sustainable protected cropping environment H²Organics™ meet the needs of the consumer, agri-business, supermarkets, and the planet.
The potential benefits of this approach to food production are:

Planet

  • A sustainable source of high-quality protein from fish.
  • Reduced environmental impact.
  • Less water use.

Consumer

  •  Highest standards of food safety.
  • Fresher (less food miles)
  • Kinder on the environment

Supermarkets

  •  Consistent supply of high quality sustainably produced food.
  •  Differentiates brand.
  • Meets Corporate Social Responsibility criteria.

Producers

  • Higher margins and return on investment.
  • Less risk.
  • Less reliance on water availability.
  • Less environmental impact.

Greenhouse

  • Opens up new markets.
  • Opportunity to supply additional technologies.
  • Retrofit existing greenhouses.
